Galen Gering who plays the role of Rafe Hernandez on Days of Our Lives is celebrating his 52nd birthday today.

He was born Galen Laius Gering on February 13, 1971, in Los Angeles, California to parents; Alan Gering and Michele de Onate. Gering is of Russian Jewish descent on his father’s side and Basque on his mother’s side.

Gering at the age of 18 relocated to New York City where he started a modeling career and finished high school. He also attended the University of Miami where he studied creative writing and film. Gering later ventured into acting and stepped into the role of Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald on ‘Passions’ in 1999, he played the role until the show’s end in 2008. He then made his debut as Rafe Hernandez on ‘Days’ on October 31, 2008, and has since been a part of the cast.
