General Hospital fans have unequivocally expressed their displeasure after learning about Kelly Monaco’s departure from the show and the impending write-off of her character, Sam McCall.
The announcement, which came to light last evening, has led to significant backlash from loyal viewers. On August 26, 2024, Soap Opera Network reported that Kelly Monaco would be departing from the ABC daytime soap opera, a decision that reportedly caught Monaco by surprise.
Subsequently, the show’s choice sparked vocal disagreement among fans, especially regarding the decision to kill off the character, who has been apart of the canvas for over two decades.
Since the news surfaced, fans have united to strategize ways to secure Monaco’s rehiring. They have mobilized through calls, emails, petitions and extensively shared posts on X while diligently tagging the show and the powers that be, all in pursuit of getting Kelly Monaco rehired.
Kelly Monaco Is A Star:
Kelly Monaco, an accomplished American actress, model, and reality television personality, is best known for her role as Sam McCall on General Hospital and for winning the first season of the reality TV competition series Dancing with the Stars. Prior to her role on General Hospital, Monaco had two roles in the ABC soap opera Port Charles as Olivia “Livvie” Locke Morley and Tess Ramsey.
She initially joined the cast of General Hospital in October 2003 as Samantha McCall. Monaco’s outstanding performances have earned her several accolades, including a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role on Port Charles in 2003 and another nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Sam McCall on General Hospital in 2006.
Since her character’s introduction as a con artist attempting to reverse her family’s misfortune, Sam McCall has evolved into a self-assured and confident woman while still retaining elements of her adventurous and rebellious personality. Sam has become a central figure in the fictional town of Port Charles and has been paired with prominent male characters, including Jason, Sonny, Patrick, Drew, Dante, and others.
