In the soap-iverse, when actors are given scripts that indicate their characters will face terrible accidents, it often leads them to fear the worst: that their character is being killed off. This is the case for Judi Evans when she learned her character Bonnie Kiriakis was set to fall down an elevator shaft on Days of Our Lives.

Initially, she thought this meant Bonnie was about to meet her end, much like her other Days alter ego, Adrienne, had done a few years earlier. In a recent interview with Soap Opera Digest, Evans opened up about what felt like déjà vu.

She recalled, ““I was concerned, because it was right before a break [in DAYS’s production schedule]. I was like, ‘Oh. They’re killing me off.’’ Despite her fears, she chose not to question the higher-ups. She explained, “I learned never to ask what’s happening, because the one time I did, they were killing my character [Adrienne] off. So I was like, ‘Oh, my God.’ I was panicked. I cried a little.” She added, “I was so worried. I was freaking out, because you never know, and I was too terrified to ask. It took a while to get that next script to find out I didn’t die.”

Judi Evans began her daytime career in 1983 when she was cast as Becki on Days of Our Lives. She returned to the show as Adrienne in 1986 and has been recurring in the role of Bonnie since 2010.
