It is with incredible sadness in our hearts that we report the death of legendary soap actress Marj Dusay who passed away at the age of 83.




Marjorie Ellen Pivonka Mahoney (Marj Dusay) was born on February 20, 1936, in Russell, Kansas. She lived a very impactful life on-screen and off-screen. She was an American actress best known for her soap opera roles which include Alexandra Spaulding on Guiding Light.


Dusay played the role on and off from 1993 until the show’s cancellation in 2009. Her other soap credits include; Vivian Alamain (temporary recast) on Days of Our Lives, Pamela Capwell Conrad on Santa Barbara, Mryna Clegg on Capitol and Vanessa Bennett Hayward Cortlandt on All My Children.


In 1955, she married a doctor, John Dusay and they divorced in 1962. They had a son and a daughter, Debra Dusay, who is an actress.  Her son, Randall Dusay sadly passed away at the age of 36 in 1993. In 1967, she married Thomas Perine, who died in 1988. She also earned an Outstanding Lead Actress Daytime Emmy Award nomination in 1995 for her work on Guiding Light.

She is credited with many other shows. She passed away on January 28, 2020. This sad news first came to us from Soap Fans United.
