The Young and the Restless alum, Miles Gaston Villanueva (Luca Santori) just shared his concerns about his character’s untimely demise on The CW’s Nancy Drew.
Villanueva joined Nancy Drew last year recurring the role of Owen Marvin. Today, Villanueva released a number of tweets relating to his exit from the show. He began, “Man. This sort of statement would’ve been very nice earlier this year / last year when I felt like I was drowning in hateful comments, when I didn’t feel safe at all. MUCH hate spewed toward me & the character I played, all because…what? Ship wars? Character age difference?“
Villanueva continued, “Sad. Critical / hateful / dangerous / damaging language floating around then that might have very well been the reason I prematurely lost the job of playing ‘Owen’. I don’t know WHY it ended, because no one ever told me. But I am smart, aware. I have sound intuition and I have been around long enough to know that SOMETHING wasn’t right. There was so much positivity working on the show with cast, crew, writers, even a large group of supportive fans. There was however also such harsh language & therefore bad press for the show via Owen. Sad. Disappointing. Hurtful at the time. I just wish Nancy Drew & the CW, or just the writers / main cast / producers / etc., would’ve stood up for one of their own and spoken out against the ugliness THEN. Thanks to all who did. Onward. And may you always say NO to hate.“
