Peacock (the streaming platform where fans watch Days of our Lives) is raising its prices by $2 in anticipation of the Summer Olympics, as the battle for streaming dominance intensifies. The streaming service, owned by NBCUniversal, will increase the cost of its ad-free offering to $13.99 per month, while the ad-supported option will be priced at $7.99 per month.

Annual subscription prices will also see a corresponding increase, with the ad-free version costing $139.99 and the ad-supported version priced at $79.99. These adjustments will come into effect for new subscribers from July 18, just one week before the 2024 opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. Existing customers will experience the new pricing from August 17 onwards.

Peacock Raises Its Prices

Despite these price hikes, Peacock remains at the more affordable end of the spectrum among streaming platforms. Launched in 2020, the service primarily offers content from NBCUniversal and third-party providers, encompassing a wide range of series, films, news, and sports programming. It operates with three service tiers: Free, Premium, and Premium Plus. The Premium tiers are subscription-based and provide access to the full content library, while the Free tier offers a subset of content. Both Free and Premium tiers are supported by advertisements, with commercial time limited to five minutes per hour.

The subscriber base of Peacock has been steadily growing, reaching 20 million paid subscribers in December 2022, 22 million in March 2023, and hitting 30 million by October 2023.

Peacock is where fans of Days of our Lives stream the soap opera since September 12, 2022. On March 15, 2023, Peacock renewed the soap for two additional years, through its 60th anniversary.

  1. If subscribers are increasing that much, why are you raising your prices?????? That’s one reason I dropped Dish Network!!! Are the streaming services going to follow suit by increasing prices every time we turn around????? 🙁

  2. Don’t like this! I am on a fixed income, but I am hooked on Days Of Our Lives! I’ve watched since 1970 when I entered the University.
