Now that’s what we’re talking about! Two weeks in a row, the Beyond the Gates cast has been on fire—and this time, it’s Brandon Claybon’s turn to take the crown. After Mike Manning earned our Performer of the Week title last week, Claybon steps into the spotlight for the week of July 14–18. He earned every bit of it.

So, what went down?

This week’s Beyond the Gates episode hit hard. Martin’s past—something that’s been slowly creeping in—finally came to light. Smitty, fed up and desperate for answers, demanded the truth about what happened two years ago. But Martin couldn’t bring himself to confess. (Of course, when you’re carrying the weight of killing someone, it’s not exactly easy to spit it out.)

Smitty wasn’t having it. He gave Martin a clear ultimatum: walk out that door, and don’t expect to come back.

However, Martin did. Backed into a corner, Martin decided it was time to make a bold move. He called a press conference, ready to tell the world the truth. But just before he could speak, in comes Bill (we sometimes call him “The clean up guy”) to save the day. As Martin began to give his speech, Bill showed him a photo of Kenny, the man who’d been harassing him and threatening his family, now lying dead. And just like that, Martin backed out. Again.

But that wasn’t the end.

Martin went home, only to be met by Smitty—and his bags, already packed. It was a clear message. So finally, Martin came clean. He confessed to killing a man who had attacked his grandfather, thrown racial slurs, and crossed every line. He also revealed how others helped cover it up. Finally, we sang! We shouted. We belted out— as the truth came to light.

Let’s talk about performances.

Brandon Claybon and Mike Manning brought it. The emotional depth, the tension, the restraint—you name it—it was all perfectly balanced. Perfectly played. Nothing felt forced. Just raw, honest acting that hit exactly where it needed to. Claybon’s performance this week was layered and gripping, while Manning continued to impress with his grounded and emotionally charged delivery.

We’ll say it again: y’all did the damn work.
