Once again, Katelyn MacMullen absolutely brought the house down on General Hospital and was rightfully crowned Soap Opera News’s Performer of the Week for July 21 through 25.
While some fans might not be thrilled with Willow’s choices lately — especially her refusal to acknowledge the massive red flags waving around Drew Cain — there’s no denying that Katelyn was firing on all cylinders this week.
It started when Willow tried to invite Portia to her wedding. But Portia shut that down real fast. She didn’t just decline the invite — she hit Willow with a heavy dose of reality, warning her about Drew’s shady behavior. Portia even went so far as to say Drew was blackmailing her and pressuring her to falsify Michael’s medical records.
Instead of taking a step back, Willow doubled down. If that’s what it takes to get her kids back, she said, then she stands by her man. Yikes.

Then came the emotional gut-punch. Willow found out her own mother, Nina, had been sleeping with Drew — the same Drew she was planning to marry. She confronted Nina, who tried to explain herself. And while Willow could maybe kind of understand parts of it, she couldn’t wrap her head around how her own mother kept that secret while watching her fall in love with the man.
Willow was heartbroken. Gutted. Disappointed. She even blamed Nina for playing a role in her losing custody of her children. In Willow’s mind, if Nina had come clean earlier, she would have stayed far away from Drew — and maybe, just maybe, wouldn’t have lost her kids.
Is she right? That’s up for debate.
What’s not up for debate is how incredible Katelyn MacMullen and Cynthia Watros (Nina) were in these scenes. Both delivered powerhouse performances packed with raw emotion and vulnerability. It was gripping, painful, and completely unforgettable.
Well played. Well acted. And well done. Hats off to these two talented women.
