Every now and then, a performance comes along that demands our attention, and this week, Jasmine Burke delivered exactly that as June on Beyond the Gates.

From the moment she first appeared on screen as a homeless woman with a complicated past, Burke immediately stood out. Her character’s unexpected connection with Naomi gave us an early glimpse at June’s layered story. But this week? Everything changed.

This week, it was revealed that June is the biological mother of Samantha and Tyrell Richardson — her children, Cecile and Ron, given up for adoption years ago.

And it was June who carried the emotional weight of the storyline.

Jasmine Burke Named Performer of the Week

Burke delivered a raw, vulnerable, and completely human performance. From June’s emotional reunion with her sister Regina to the heartbreaking moment she discovered an old letter she’d written to her kids — only to find out they were alive and being raised in Fairmont Crest by Martin and Smitty — Burke handled it all with such amazing talent.

Watching June prepare to meet her children again after all these years was gut-wrenching. The nerves. The guilt. The weight of past mistakes. Burke showed us a mother still haunted by her choices, someone trying desperately to rewrite the ending to a story that began in pain.

And she did it not with big dramatics, but with subtle power. Her eyes told the story. A slight pause in her voice. A hesitant breath. The tension in her body. Every move felt intentional and real.

We’ll say it again, Jasmine Burke may only be recurring on the show, but this week, she gave a main-character-level performance. The casting department chose right when they chose her for this role.

Congratulations, Jasmine. You are our Performer of the Week. (Photo: CBS Screengrab.)
