Hey, fam! We hope your Valentine’s Day (and every day) was filled with love!
Our soaps Valentine’s Day Week had a little bit of everything arrests, catfight, wedding, annulment papers, a pregnancy announcement, possible drowning, and Valentine’s Day love.
The Young and the Restless
Victor’s speedy trial was postponed so the police department and the DA’s office could try to separate fact from fiction regarding Nikki’s bombshell confession that she killed JT. But Mia in the throes of passion screamed Arturo’s name and not her husband’s. So, Rey made a beeline to Sharon’s and professed his love to her and she professed back. Rey saw an old phone bill on the coffee table(Sharon had them out for tax purposes) and the date of JT’s murder jumped out at him. Rey started interrogating Sharon and she broke. She told it all. She, Phyllis and Victoria were arrested. Rey, that’s not an ideal follow-up after an “I Love You.” Sharon, next year just send everything straight to an accountant. Mariah was the voice of reason that helped Lola see that she was just as much at fault with the problems in Kola’s relationship as Kyle was. Lola went to the Abbott cabin to make up with Kyle but Summer got there first. Lola saw Kyle and Summer kissing and told Kyle she was done done done. And she was until Teriah told her she needed to fight for Kyle like Summer was fighting for him. Lola went to the Abbott mansion looking for Kyle. She was pushed from behind and fell. She tried to stand up and stumbled into the Abbott pool (yea! Abbott pool sighting). On second thought, maybe Mariah wasn’t the voice of reason after all, LOL.
Abby rolled up on Mia (um Abby ain’t from the streets so that was a bold move) after Arturo told her that Mia admitted to Rey she couldn’t stop thinking about Arturo. Back and forth Abby and Mia went. “You are clinging onto the past…I pity you for your lack of self-control and grace.” “No one would give you a second look if you weren’t a Newman.” Then, Abby made the mistake of trying to have the last word and walk off and Mia yanked her by her hair. Abby snatched some of Mia’s weave out. Oh, we were well on our way to a good catfight. But Devon’s employee (she was just doing her job) shut it down. Abby requested that the Athletic Club Manager call a car for Mia on her dime. Newman move. Next Mia was chugging down the hard stuff. Did Mia mistake Lola for Abby and caused her to fall in the pool?
The Bold and the Beautiful
Nothing quite says “I Love You” on Valentine’s Day like annulment papers. It’s safe to say that Valentine’s Day 2019 will be a day Katie won’t soon forget. Thorne served Katie with annulment papers, packed his bags and moved to Paris all in a week. According to Thorne, he and Katie got married for Will (now that Bill had stepped up in the daddy department Thorne was no longer needed). Also, Thorne realized he was using them to fill the void of Darla and Aly. It wasn’t fair to Katie and Will and Thorne needed to deal with their deaths on his own. Yes, he loved Katie but it wasn’t a good enough reason to stay married given the other issues. Yeah, it was alot and fast. But that’s what they said so we said it…..The alarm bells were loudly sounding off for Steffy about Hope’s attachment to Phoebe. Liam was concerned but at least for now, he thinks Phoebe is good for Hope. Hmm…
Somebody check Florence’s “not looking like she had a baby body” for “burns” because Zoe grilled her! Never do a crime with Florence because she breaks easily. Well, maybe not easily because Zoe would not stop. She kept popping over and asking question after question about Florence’s body, the adoption papers and whatever else Zoe could think of. When Florence had had enough, she spilled every last drop of the tea. Zoe told her daddy to hop right back on a plane and do another eleven-hour flight back to Los Angeles. When he got back, Dr. Reese tried to tell Zoe he did it for her to protect her. But Zoe told dear old daddy everything that happened was his fault and on him. And that if he didn’t come clean she was going to go tell it on the mountain about what he did.
General Hospital
We learned a few more things about DOD. It has been in Port Charles much longer than anyone knew. Shiloh may be a murderer. Kristina has fallen for him and is jealous of the attention he is giving Sam. Valerie attended the DOD VDay party. Was that Brytni’s final appearance before her move to Genoa City? Spencer (and his deep voice) visited. Will he admit to Grandmother Laura about his election tampering? Eye Spy Maxine cracked the case that Valentin hired Sasha to pose as Nina’s faux daughter. Maxine is on the case. Valentin is in trouble. Fanna and Robert tracked down Dr. Cabot who to their surprise was blind. Dr. Cabot was blind but not “dumb”. Even without his eyesight, he knew Anna wasn’t Alex. And he told the three musketeers he would only help them after Finn treated him for his blindness.
The mother of all spoilers came out. Carly is pregnant! Sonny’s inappropriate question for a husband and expectant father spoke for us when he asked, “What are you (not we) going to do?” Sonny’s concerns about Carly were warranted. Carly shared her concerns about a high-risk pregnancy as well as bringing another child into their mob world. Carly spoke truth, that the universe has its own mind and it can be a scary place to accept some things are beyond our control. It was an open, honest and real conversation. Carly spoke her truth and tearfully shared if it was safe she wanted to have the baby.
Some of our favorite scenes were with Liz and her sons. Cameron got into a fight about Franco’s arrest at school. He was understandably upset and doesn’t believe in Franco’s innocence. Liz then discussed with all three of her sons that Franco was innocent. It did get tricky when she tried to explain how Franco could be innocent and Aunt Lulu and Grandmother Laura not be liars. It was a nice touch that Drew (who believes in Franco’s innocence) came and spoke up for Franco also. Frizzes had their couple tie the knot at the jail. It might not have been a fairy tale wedding. But Liz married, with Drew as the officiant, the man she loves and who loves her. Go Liz! Jordan and Curtis concluded Franco was indeed innocent. Kevin’s trap of the prenup fib worked. The light bulb in Laura’s head went off that something was more than a little off. Ryan was on his way to Fern Cliff with Laura following closely behind.
Days of Our Lives
Brady and Chloe decided to stay in the friend zone to protect their friendship. Chloe looked really comfy in the DiMera mansion. We would like to order a Brady/Chloe/Stefan triangle with a side of Gabi, please. Diana told John Leo is his son. John told Roman who suggested John not ruin Jarlena’s Valentine with the news. Wilson’s drought ended on VDay and they made love with the help of Gabi who was more than willing to go up against Leo on their behalf. Ted kissed Hope. Rafe rescued a drugged and passed out Kate in her hotel room. We would also like to order a Hope/Rafe/Ted/Kate quad, please.
Ben was arrested when Hope and Eli found Ciara’s phone and Charlotte’s blanket in his room. At the police station, Ben and a vision of Ciara solved the mystery of who had Ciara and Charlotte. It was Jordan! Ben got the jump on Eli and knocked him out, held Hope at gun point and wrestled Ted down and got away. Ben was not going to anyone stop him from finding Ciara. Ben rescued Ciara from the burning cabin in the nick of time.
Prior Chad and Ben “Bad” (figured out the place to look was the cabin). Ciara told them Jordan took Charlotte to Abby. Back at the Horton house, Jordan was going to give Charlotte back to Abby until she saw Ben had escaped from custody. She refused to give Abby Charlotte. When Chad arrived he told Jordan he had killed Ben so everyone was safe. A shaken Jordan gave Chabby their baby and ran out. Chabby reunited. (that Chabby promo!) Jordan recovered fast. She knocked Ben out as our Friday Cliffhanger.
Performers of the Week
Our Honorable Mention this week is Kiara Barnes, Zoe Bold and the Beautiful! The baby switching storyline has birthed stellar performances. We can put Kiara on the list. Zoe was relentless, shocked, angry, disturbed, perturbed, aggrieved and distressed. She kept showing up and pushing until Florence told her every single sordid detail. And then she summoned daddy Reese back from across the pond and made him explain the inexplicable. When Dr. Reese tried to say he did all this for her, she pushed return to sender. She told him that this was 100% on him. Kiara gave us everything we would imagine a daughter would emote learning something so horrible. As Zoe sobbed and railed on daddy Reese and had us all up in our soap feels, we knew we had a winner. Well done, Kiara!
Our Best Performer of the Week is Chrishell Stause Hartley, Jordan Days of our Lives!
Who knew what to expect with Jordan’s return? We didn’t know. But we knew Ron Carlivati wasn’t the pigtails and scrubs kinda writer lol. We got a cra-cra Jordan and we are in love. We have put on our track shoes to keep up. Just last week Jordan;
- Reunited with her brother Ben and didn’t let on she was setting up him for kidnapping and murder.
- Dragged a passed out Kate to her hotel room and staged an overdose.
- Made us feel for her because she really believes she is trying to save people from her psycho brother.
- Set the cabin on fire with Ciara in it.
- Mourned the death of her brother Ben.
- Tried to kill Ben when she found out he wasn’t dead.
Chrishell’s cra-cra hits the bulls-eye. We believe Jordan is crazy and her performances have made it feel organic and not out of the blue. Chrishell/Jordan goes from moments of lucidity to full-blown crazy effortlessly. Her delivery when Jordan told Ciara matter of factly she had to die was boss. And what about when Jordan thought Ben was dead? We felt her sorrow, her grief and then got those cra-cra eyes when she knocked out a not so dead Ben. Good stuff Chrishell. We are all in. We are so glad to have you and Jordan back! Hey, DM us and tell us what’s the deal with that scar. We can keep a secret.
