Hey peeps!
50% of our soaps had an abbreviated week due to March Madness. We still had a solid week of soaps; a couple of anticipated debuts, we finally say his face, a couple of departures, Brooke got a blast from the past in L.A. and much more.
Let’s do this!
The Young and the Restless
Summer and Kyle exchanged “I Love You”s” before the elevator doors closed and Summer was on her way to surgery. Lola, who was still looking for Kyle to be at her bedside, went through surgery with no complications. Summer wasn’t so lucky. In flashbacks, we learned Mia and Arturo slept together. We aren’t sure but we think most likely this is Josh’s work. The next logical question would be; Are we headed for a who the baby daddy storyline? And if so, we guess Mia might want to see if there is a refund policy on that urine she bought? Just thoughts that run through our soap heads. Mia told Arturo you betta get your brother to take me back or I’m going to tell your rich princess what I had been trying to tell her for months; you can’t get enough of this. Devon followed Ana right to her biological father, Jet Slade a former big R&B star. Her big secret was she had been paying for her father’s medical bills. Elena Dawson/Brytni Sarpy made their debut in Genoa City. Elena is Jet Slade’s nurse. All of our eyes will be on Devon and Elena for sure!
Nick and Billy convinced Rey that JT was alive. Rey had dirt on the officers who were transporting Nikki, Sharon and Victoria to the big big house. He utilized his leverage to get the officers to allow Nick to intercept them and take the ladies to the Abbott cabin. The ladies (especially Victoria) were a little hesitant at the plan given they were officially fugitives and escaped convicts but it beat “not passing Go and going directly to jail.” Billy and Nick set a trap for JT when they searched and found planted bugs at Victoria’s. But even with his headaches, he was too smart to fall for it. He didn’t go where they tried to trap him to go. JT had followed the prison van and was at the cabin. He got the jump on the guards and then we saw it, his face; OMG JT was indeed alive! Once he cornered the ladies inside with a gun, they wasted no time asking what we all wanted to know. How was he alive? They buried him on top of an old storm drain. Eew. We can only imagine the ride JT took through the storm drain, the sewer and then into the river. But we guess he was just thankful to be alive. That was a miracle. But the real miracle is how in a world of cell phones, pictures, cameras and Social Media was JT able to stay undetected for so long? How? Anyway, for everyone who was up in arms about the damages the abuse storyline had on JT’s character, looks like there might be good news for you. It’s tumor time. Will all be forgiven? JT had the ladies tie themselves up. He smashed some things that caused a gas leak in the fireplace. He ranted, raved and complained that his head hurt before he passed out. The gas was leaking, the ladies were feeling the effects and then…March Madness time so…we’ve had to wait.
The Bold and the Beautiful
The canvas continued to remember and memorialize Caroline Spencer. We learned that Thomas nor Douglas was with Caroline at the time of her death. So sad. And that Thomas and Caroline weren’t a couple but cohabiting co-parents. Katie and Bill continued to grow closer. She told Bill he was back to being the man she fell in love with. Taylor and Ridge “discussed” Taylor’s idea that Douglas needed a mother. Hope needed a child. “Thope” used to be a thing. Liam still loves Steffy. Steffy still loves Liam. If not for Bill they would be together. So, what’s best for everyone is for Thomas, Hope and Douglas to become a family. And Liam, Steffy and the girls to become one as well. While Taylor made Steffy’s case; she made her own. She told Ridge nothing had been right since she lost him. She still loved him and she kissed him. Welcome home Brooke! Brooke saw Taylor kiss her husband and oh my goodness. I haven’t seen such a calm and collected read in a minute. Brooke told Taylor; look I understand you and your family are going through a rough time. Caroline was a sweet girl and I offer my deepest condolences. But listen don’t think for a single solitary second that what I just saw here is going to fly. You come up in my house kissing on my husband. Look Taylor we ain’t young no more. I’m too old for that kinda mess and you are too. So this is your one and only warning; any whiff of any inappropriate behavior on your part will be handled by me swiftly and forcefully. Period. We can’t wait for this one. Taylor vs. Brooke should never die.
Days of Our Lives
How soaptastic was Marlena’s centric episode? Tony, Andre, Princess Gina, Belle, a drunk Eric/Brady brawl with a very nontraditional first dance from Hattie and John. Every single second was soap genius. Well done Days! After seeing Hattie and John wed; Marlena fought her way back LOL. Sarah admitted to Eric she had feelings for him. Eric said that’s nice but I’m sowie if I made you think we were anything else but friends. He lied. He dreamed of Sarah. But he made a pact with God to be a good brother and resist Sarah if God healed his momma. God did his part so Eric would do his….we guess. JJ was heartbroken when Haley told him a faux marriage to his cousin, Tripp, was a better option for her than a faux marriage to him. She had her reasons. “It’s too complicated with you. You and your daddy are already at odds because of me. This is the better option.” Tripp looked like his genes had kicked in and was getting a clue about Claire. But Eve said what Claire said about how she and Jack found out Haley was staying at the loft; so that was pretty much that. We did get a good chukle that Claire busting Haley out led to Tripp proposing to Haley, that was pretty soapy. Claire sold Tripp yet another faux bill of goods; that she would support his faux marriage. We are so looking forward to all the shenanigans Claire is going to pull.
Ciara showed up at the DiMera mansion to fight for her man. Just when we were getting to the good stuff, bullets! Pow! Pow! Pow!. Darn it, the cartel found Chloe. Thankfully no one was hurt. Leo fell for Brady’s plan. Brady bought the real company while Stefan was focused on Brady’s decoy company. Brandon Brash made his splash entrance by nuStefan(thank you Tyler and we hope to see you again) choking Leo for either his duplicity or his dumbness. Stefan had pretty much figured out who was really at fault. He summoned Gabi to the mansion. Stabi 2.0 still brought the heat! Slaps, threats, accusations and heat. It’s still game on people! Kayla noticed a hole in Marlena’s IV line and surmised that penicillin was put directly in her IV. Diana panicked and wondered if she wiped her fingerprints off the IV. She showed up at the police station and interrupted Elani’s flirty foreplay session fishing for information. But like mother like son, Diana had gotten played. It was all a setup. Elani and Jarlena were working together. Diana took her bait as well. John was waiting for her with evidence in hand for our Friday Cliffhanger.
General Hospital
Dante shot Sonny but not enough to injure him. Dante and Sonny hatched a plan and by the week’s end Dante was home enjoying Lante loving. Liz wasn’t sure if things could go back to the way they were before Franco lied about being the serial killer. But she loves her man, Aiden/Jake love him and she told Franco to come on home. Cam was still on the fence but Franco vowed to prove himself. Oscar’s tests came back. The tumor grew and the doctor gave him 4-6 weeks to live, again. Kevin was a free man but hardly free. He had a rough week. He and Laura continued to be estranged. Mac was angry at him for choosing his brother over his family. Griffin left Port Charles but made sure to beat Kevin’s tail first. (Good luck Matt Cohen!) And now DA Margaux is planning to charge Kevin with being an accomplice to Ryan. Like our parents always taught us; it’s just easier to tell the truth at the beginning.
Some of our favorite scenes of the week were between Carly and Ava. A drunk Ava showed up at Carly’s looking for Avery who wasn’t home. Carly refused to give Ava what she wanted. Ava wanted Carly to compound on the beating Ava had been inflicting on herself. Carly would not. She told Ava this wasn’t her fault. It was Ryan’s and for her to get herself together if for nobody else but for Avery. We loved how the writers handled this. And a passed out Ava curled up on Carly’s sofa had to make every soap lover smile. Nicely done. Ava didn’t have the best of weeks either. Felicia warned her not to let her guard down when it came to Ryan and she got a breather phone call. Is Ryan alive?
DOD appears to be the “A” story in Port Charles and alot happened last week. Kristina discovered the DOD wasn’t as open as she was led to believe. There was a secret group. The power behind the group. There is always a few who hold the real power in anything. Shiloh was ready to let her in behind the curtain and Kristina wanted to look. But the DOD well really Shiloh needed to know something about Kristina that nobody else knew. Something she hadn’t ever told anyone. It looks like Kristina will give up a family secret. Girl……yo momma and daddy gonna come for you and Shiloh. With Sonny back in town, Sam needed to expedite her infiltration of DOD before Sonny shut her down. She joined DOD and Shiloh happily offered to be her individual mentor. Hurry up Sam because Kristina cut off Valerie. Now last week, she cut off her momma and her sister. Willow overheard Michael telling Chase about Shiloh and DOD. Before you could say new teacher, she was packed and ready to leave Port Charles. Shiloh eavesdropped on Michael and Kristina and heard Willow’s name. He ran to the school and gave Willow his best, “Why you left me baby? I miss you. Come back to me.” Chase showed up just in time responding to a shaky Willow’s text for help. He asked Willow if Shiloh was the father of her baby. That’s gonna be something if Shiloh tries to get Wiley.
Performers of the Week
Our Honorable Mention this Week is Thad Luckinbill! The Walking Dead never looked so good! After almost a year and then weeks of anticipation, finally, we saw for ourselves that JT was indeed alive! He was back and ready to exact revenge. Thad did such a great job of showing us what it had been like for JT. Whew… JT looked rough around the edges and sounded like it too. His physical appearance, his words, his actions, Thad embodied exactly what someone would look like, sound like and act like that had an attempt on his life, was buried alive and survived a storm drain, sewer, river and had been living in the shadows for an entire year while not well (it hasn’t been said). But we are soapers we all have a good idea of where we are headed, we think. Thad was so good with his “crazed”/wounded/angry performance. He was edgy, tense, high-strung and made us uneasy in the soapiest way. We had been waiting for this and we can’t wait to see what happens next. Welcome back Thad/JT! Well done!
Our Performer of the Week is Finola Hughes! You know we love when actors play a dual role. Anna and Alex are so good. Anna dangling her sister’s sight in front of her face (pun intended). Alex coyly taunting Anna knowing how much her sister wanted to know what memories were actually hers. It was a game of cat and mouse with a twist; Texas Standoff meets Matador meets a game of chicken to see who blinked first. Finola had to be angry, firm, calm, calculating, coy, determined, vulnerable, flirty, liar, truth teller, upset, remorseful, etc, and blind and most of this with herself! But that expression Alex had when she threw out to Anna to give Robert that cryptic message “she was sorry she couldn’t see him one last time”; then Anna’s expression at the implied meaning…that’s Queen stuff right there. Double Finola? Yes, please anytime. Finola Finola’-ed. Thanks as always, Queen!
