What’s up soap fam?
We were treated with great soap last week. Teens are going on an adventure, twins continued to be struck with blindness, false confessions, lovers reunited, an arraignment, a hospital vigil, two proposals, a star witness struck a deal, battle royale, wedding, supercouple exited, buried revelations surfaced, and we honored a QUEEN. Great soap.
General Hospital
The teens and the newbie teen are off to an adventure to Niagara Falls. Oh but just wait until the parents find out. Sonny will embark on his own adventure. He is going to find a “rouge” Dante. Yes! Sleuth Maxie has Sasha’s nail clippings. DNA test here she comes. Dr. Cabot confirmed to Anna she was infected with the HN242 virus. And that she (Anna was purposely made not to remember) and her twin, Alex, were involved in a study with the objective to transfer memories from one twin to another. With one of the side effects being delayed blindness. This trial/study is what Andre Maddox built his mind mapping studies on. Cam and Lulu were in shock and furious that Liz married Franco. Liz’s marital bliss didn’t last 24 hours because Jordan’s big plan to catch the real killer is for Franco to admit he is the killer. We just gonna go with it. Anyway, Franco pleaded guilty. Liz slapped him and threw her wedding ring back at him. Now, Liz, Nina, Ava, Drew, Curtis and even Lulu herself either believes Franco is innocent and/or something is off. Okay.
Shiloh took Sam on a ride to the tower for her to experience the light/Dawn of Day for herself. Jason was right on her heels. He became blind coming up steps and did a Humpty Dumpty. Sam ran down to check on him with Shiloh on her heels. Drew’s blindness struck basically simultaneously. He was driving, passed out and ran hard into Jordan. Did Jordan tell her trusted fellow cop about Franco first? Please don’t let her be in a coma for months or have amnesia! Kevin and Laura reunited. Even though it was shortlived because Ryan has Laura now too. We were happy to see them telling each other how much they loved each other and missed each other. We missed them too. Ryan made Laura sign the divorce papers. And he proposed to Ava who accepted.
The Young and The Restless
Kyle rescued an unconscious Lola from the Abbott pool. Lola sustained a blow to her head before she fell in. Kyle, Arturo, Rey, Abby and Mia all waited anxiously for her to wake up at the hospital. Summer showed up trying to be supportive (we think lol) but Kyle made her leave. Then Arturo turned around and did the same thing to Kyle. The police opened an investigation because they suspected foul play. Rey suspected Kyle and Summer until he saw the box with the coat in it that Lola was wearing when she was attacked. It wasn’t Lola’s coat. Rey remembered it was Abby’s. This made Mia his prime suspect. He played a verbal cat and mouse later with her at their place. The coat, extra set of footprints and Mia’s lost earring might be case closed for Mia. But in soapland, you never know.
Sharon hired Brittany to represent her with her one phone call. At her counsel’s direction, she recanted her confession stating she gave it under duress because of Rey. Phyllis didn’t obtain counsel. Instead, she made a deal with Cricket (Phyllis and Cricket in scenes together always a yes) and became their Star Witness in their case against Nikki, Victoria and Sharon. So, Phyllis tried to dodge appearing at her fellow partners’ in crime, arraignment. But Nick, clueless to why Phyllis was home while the other three were still in jail, pressured Phyllis to go to support Nikki, Victoria and Sharon. Everyone was suspicious but it appeared no one figured out what Phyllis had done until it was spelled out to them in the courtroom. Nick was livid. Victor threatened Phyllis. Bail was argued by Cricket and both defense counsels and denied by the Judge. Nikki, Victoria and Sharon will remain in jail through trial.
Y&R paid tribute to a QUEEN and a legend, Melody Thomas Scott. We did our own mini-tribute. If you haven’t read it, check it out. Wednesday was soap perfection. It was vintage Y&R. It reminded us all of why Y&R has been #1 for so many years. The biggest of kudos to any and everyone who had anything to do with the tribute. It was fantastic. Nikki in jail penning a letter to her grandkids about her life was brilliant. The flashbacks with Casey, Greg Foster, Katherine, Neil, Victor. Everything was perfect. Congrats Melody!
The Bold and the Beautiful
Zoe was all set to tell Steffy that Phoebe is Hope’s baby. But Steffy told Zoe how much Phoebe meant to her already. And that she is very much Phoebe’s mom as much as she is Kelly’s. Zoe lost her nerve and left. Zoe told daddy Reese she had seen how much Steffy had already bonded with the baby and that it would be cruel to take Phoebe from her. She would keep his dirty little secret. Bill visited Katie and told her he was there for her and Will. Bill wanted Wyatt to know he was committed just like he was with Will, to be the father he deserved. And he wanted Wyatt to come back to Spencer Publications. Wyatt’s response; prove it. Wyatt would come back under one condition, he wanted Sally to come with. And fashion magazines for his Sally wouldn’t cut it. Wyatt wanted Spectra Fashions back. Make that two conditions. Well played, Wyatt. You learned from momma Quinn and daddy Dollar Bill. Bill agreed as long as Wyatt promised never to call him a dressmaker. LOL.
We had a Justin and Donna sighting. Part Deux? We are interested. Are you? We do our best to remain neutral and just give y’all the facts. But there are times we feel the need to say more. And this is one of those times. We have no idea what is up with this Hope storyline. We hope it is being written from the perspective of Hope suffering from depression from losing her baby, which is completely 100% understandable. Because if not, we are perplexed. Unless it is 100% plot driven. Hope, out of her own mouth, said Liam belonged with Steffy and his daughters (Phoebe isn’t his although she is). Hope felt guilty for keeping Liam away from “those babies. And she also told Brooke that when you love someone you set them free. Brooke implored to Hope to stop pushing her husband toward another woman. Sounds like good advice.
Days of Our Lives
Eve discovered Melinda and Haley are sisters. She wanted Jack to tell what he knew about Haley. Eve said it would protect JJ from getting in trouble for protecting an illegal immigrant and it would make Melinda drop out the mayoral race, which of course is the only thing Eve really cared about. Haley kind of pushed up on Kate and Eve in the same week. Gutsy but little lady you might want to think twice about tangling with those two. Stefan fired Gabi. The battle royale at Salem University Hospital was good! Ciara saved Ben from Jordan. Then Ben saved Ciara from Jordan. Then Rafe saved Jordan from Ben. Poor Ben was horrified at the thought that he was really going to kill his sister. He told Ciara he was scared and that she should be too. I love my CIN. But yep Ciara that is something to think about. LOL. Snarky Gabi had some fun with a tied up Leo. But Gabi had to let him go at some point. When she did, Leo dropped the dime on Wilson. They were booked for attempted murder. That might be the new DA, Ted’s first case.
Ciara and Claire made up, again. We have lost count. Tripp and Ciara believed Jordan could very well have been the first fire starter regarding Ciara. We could have been in the shock of our soap lives, but Days PR had already given it away. That provoked an interesting discussion on Social Media. To Spoil or not to Spoil? So, no Jordan didn’t start the first fire. Claire had a revelation. It was her. Wow. That would have been an OMG moment if we hadn’t known beforehand. What wasn’t spoiled was Jordan’s bombshell (well I didn’t know if y’all did). Jordan was arrested for Charlotte and Ciara’s kidnapping. Yet insisted to Rafe, Ben did it. Rafe pointed out to Jordan that she had a car accident about a year ago. Jordan physically got better. But had never felt the same since then. Jordan tearfully took us through her horrific childhood and the abuse her entire family suffered at the hands of Clyde. She realized she had crashed the car on purpose while driving her pregnant mom to the doctor (Clyde was right). She thought it was the only way to escape Clyde. She did survive but was prepared to die. Jordan sobbed and begged Rafe to say he understood. Jordan was sent to Bayview to get the help she needs.
Days put on a clinic on how to exit legacy characters and a supercouple. It was quick no lies there. Chabby reunited, made love, got engaged, got married and left for Paris within four episodes. But if you are a fan of either character or especially Chabby you didn’t mind. Kate and Billy saved their best for last. The emotions, the smiles, the laughter, it was real and genuine. The intimate family wedding was faultless and flawless, the attire, the vows, the acting, Asher (Thomas), dialogue and Julie as the officiant. The good-byes, tear-jerkers. Everybody B-R-A-V-O!
Performers of the Week
It was difficult to choose the winners. We had at least five solid contenders. Our selections are below.
Our Honorable Mention Billy Flynn (Chad, Days of our Lives)
Chad had us using our tissues this week. It started with Chad asking Abby for their family to move with him to Paris to start a new life. Then after Abby said yes, he slid in there that they weren’t going anywhere unless she was Mrs. Chad DiMera. That proposal. Not sure if I should say this but hey you only live once. Chad proposing in his boxer briefs should win all kinds of awards. Chad’s scenes with Kate forgiving her and inviting her to the wedding were so sweet. At Chabby’s wedding when Chad looked around the Horton living room and talked about them all being like family, you knew it was Billy speaking also. Chad’s vows and Billy’s scenes opposite Kate all week were magical. But those scenes with Chad and Wilson, Chadson. They broke us. And whatever little bit we had left broke more when he hugged and kissed them both. We knew Billy was saying good-bye to Chandler and Freddie too. Thank you, Billy, for last week and for the last five years! We love you! We will miss you! Soar!
Performer of the Week Michael Mealor (Kyle, The Young and the Restless)
Our tissues got a real work out this week. We had a frantic Kyle, find an unconscious Lola in the Abbott pool. We had a heroic Kyle rescue Lola. We had an emotional and fearful Kyle as he cried and pleaded at Lola’s bedside for her to wake up and come back to him so he could prove how much he loved her. We had a confrontational Kyle who didn’t flinch when he and Arturo almost came to blows when Arturo accused him of having something to do with what happened to Lola. We had a humble Kyle when he left the hospital (at Arturo’s demand) not to cause any trouble. We think he should have stayed but he gets big points for thinking of Lola first. We got a patient and kind Kyle that even after all that Summer had done, he listened to her express her feelings for him. Then we got the firm Kyle telling Summer yet again he was in love with Lola. We loved each and every Kyle. Somebody finally got the memo that Michael is an upcoming STAR. Just give the man the material and he will do the rest. We so enjoyed seeing this young man “flex his muscle” last week. Outstanding, Michael!

Performer of the Week: Y&R’s Michael Mealor!
