The Haves and the Have Nots’ Renee Lawless (Kathryn Cryer) has opened up about her breast cancer diagnosis.
She shared, “Well I have a secret and today I decided to let the cat out of the bag and let you now what’s been going on with me. I have waited to open up so that I could control the narrative and prevent the rumor mill from happening.” She continued, “In March of this year, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. While, caught early enough to be zero stage, it was invasive and positive in all three receptors. Thus, I have been in intense chemo since April. This past week, I completed my sixth and final chemo … WHOO WHOOO. And the last MRI showed that the cancer is virtually g9e and I expect my next MRI to be totally cancer free. Now, I know what you are thinking. I still have my hair. YES for the most part I do. I took very aggressive steps to save my hair. I have been wearing Ice caps for 8 hours during chemo. At -37 degrees centigrade. Yes its cold. I only have lost about 20 percent of my hair. Praise the Lord. However, the rest of my body wasn’t so fortunate ha ha. I will be posting more about ice caps in the next several weeks along with photos of my journey. Sort of a Cancer journey album. I have been totally at peace with this from day one. I know the great physician He has me in the palm of His hand. Because I may not know what my future holds but I know who holds my future. I have only cried over my hair and possibly slowing down work. Fortunately, I have been able to work and save my hair. I am taking a brief break but after one more procedure I should be back in the saddle again by next month. My message to you is GET YOUR MAMOGRAMS. This was caught on a routine mammogram. No lump, in fact I never would have found this on my own. Although I do not have a family history… Ladies we have been led to believe. That 80% of BC patients have family history. That is not true. ONLY 14% have a family history.“
She ensured to show gratitude, “Thank you to my many friends for your prayers, texts, cards gifts, etc. And thank the many prayer lists I have been included in around the world. Much appreciated and forever grateful.” See below!
