Al Calderon is set to exit Days of Our Lives and reports say the role of Javi Hernandez will be recast. Viewers can expect to see Calderon’s final appearance on the show sometime in May 2026. With that being said, one name making the rounds for a recast suggestion is none other than Bryan Craig, a two-time Daytime Emmy award-winner. In fact, Bryan playfully teased the possibility on X (formerly Twitter) with a post saying, “Days of Our Lives, I hear you’re in need of a ‘Javi.’” Would you love to see it?
Calderon, who joined Days in October 2024, has joined the cast of NBC’s Brilliant Mind for season two as a series regular. His character, Javi, is currently in a romantic pairing with Greg Rikaart’s Leo Stark. But there’s clearly more to Javi than meets the eye.
Fans have speculated that he might be hiding a secret or two—and honestly, we wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the case. But let’s turn the page and focus on a potential new face of Javi: Bryan Craig.
Who Is Bryan Craig?
Craig is no stranger to the world of soap operas. He rose to fame as Morgan Corinthos on General Hospital, where he played the role from 2013 to 2017 and later made a few brief returns in 2018 and 2024.
His impressive work on the show earned him four consecutive nominations for Outstanding Younger Actor at the Daytime Emmys, with wins in both 2016 and 2017. So, it’s safe to say, the guy’s got chops.
After his time at GH, Craig took on the role of Sgt. Adam Coogan in Valor on The CW from 2017 to 2018. He also starred as Javi Mendoza in ABC’s Grand Hotel in 2019. And beyond acting, Craig has been flexing his creative muscles behind the scenes as well. He recently wrapped up writing a script called Redline Society, collaborating with his friend Aaron Jaeger.
