In a brand-new behind-the-scenes clip shared on The Young and the Restless’ official YouTube channel, some of the cast opened up about their favorite Thanksgiving side dishes—and the answers ranged from classic comfort food to some pretty unexpected picks.
First up was Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Lawson). She admitted, “Oh, actually, I have two—mashed potatoes and corn soufflé. Oh, so delicious. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it.”
Then we got the onscreen husband-and-wife duo, Melissa Ordway (Abby) and Bryton James (Devon). Ordway confessed, “I would say mashed potatoes, but I’m really into the canned cranberry sauce. It has to be the can—jellied and all of that.”
James was genuinely surprised: “I’ve never had that before. Is that really good?” Melissa didn’t hesitate: “You’re coming over to my house.”
James went on to reveal his own favorites: “I like mac and cheese because there are so many different variations people can make, but I also like homemade Chex Mix. It’s a nice little snack for Thanksgiving.”
Courtney Hope (Sally), standing next to her onscreen boyfriend Jason Thompson (Billy), added her unique picks: “My favorite Thanksgiving side dishes are Italian mashed potatoes and French stuffing.” She explained it’s a family thing.
Thompson followed with: “I would have to say pierogis. If you don’t know what pierogis are, look them up—they’re fantastic. Not a traditional Thanksgiving side, but I love them.”
Next up was the Abbott family trio—Susan Walters (Diane), Peter Bergman (Jack), and Michael Mealor (Kyle).
Peter went with stuffing, while Michael joked that he’d pick all of them, though he ultimately declared himself “a dressing guy.”
Susan kept it simple and sweet—literally—saying she’s all about sweet potatoes, especially sweet potato casserole.
Onscreen newlyweds Lauralee Bell (Christine) and Michael Damian (Danny) shared theirs, too. Bell said, “I mean, who’s not going to say mashed potatoes with gravy? Like a splatter.”
Then came Sharon Case (Sharon), who said one of her favorite sides is Brussels sprouts—something she knows Joshua Morrow (Nick) absolutely hates. Not that it stops her! She also admitted she loves gravy… even if it’s not technically a side dish. Morrow didn’t hesitate: “Stuffing. Period. My mom’s stuffing.”
The clip wrapped with several cast members returning to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving—joined by leading stars Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki) and Eric Braeden (Victor), of course.
