GH EP Confirms No Michael Recast and When Chad Duell Last Airs

Earlier today, the General Hospital fandom was hit with a shocker when Daytime Emmy award-winner Chad Duell announced on Instagram that he’s decided to leave the show. Naturally, this raised a flurry of questions, like, Will his character, Michael Corinthos, be recast? Will Robert Adamson—who filled in for him a couple of times—take on the role permanently? And, most importantly, when can we expect his Duell’s final scenes? Soap Opera News reached out to GH for comment; a statement from Frank Valentini, the show’s Executive Producer, was shared (the same was shared on X).

When Is Chad Duell’s Final GH Airdate?

Valentin’s statement read: “I am sad to confirm the news of Chad Duell’s forthcoming exit from #GeneralHospital. I have loved working with Chad over the years and wish him nothing but the best. He is a terrific actor and will be missed by everyone at #GH.

As for if the role will be recast and when Chad Duell’s final airdate for General Hospital will be, Valentini added, “There are no plans to recast his role at this time, but you never know in daytime. I can promise a great story for Michael and his family when Chad exits in the new year.”

Chad Duell debuted as Michael Corinthos on April 20, 2010, earning nominations for the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series in 2011, 2012, and 2014, and winning the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in 2015. The character was previously portrayed by Dylan Cash (2002–2008) and Drew Garrett (2009–2010), with Robert Adamson occasionally stepping in for Duell during his tenure.     Chad will be missed! However the character is(in my opinion) too important not to recast! I guess this is what happens to your long time loyal people when they are forced into taking a pay cut! Evidently ABC and Disney need to rethink their daytime shows! We as fans are sick of all the repeated news shows! 3 hours of regular programming doesn’t make for a happy audience in day time! We as fans are unhappy with all of the beloved characters that have been written out over the past few years on GH and the writers rewriting history hasn’t helped either! ABC lost valuable viewers when AMC and OLTL were eliminated from your day time programs! I Please do not consider canceling GH or you will loose your viewers completely ! Sorry but things need to change in you daily programming .News shows maybe cheaper for the network but viewers generate sponsorships clearly this lineup hasn’t worked out! With that being said I do hope Chad will come back soon!

    The way the actors are leaving; I assume Maurice & Steve won’t be far behind. I have watched GH all my life since the beginning. I am a devoted GH watcher. But it makes me really sad to see so many of our great actors are leaving.

    The part of Michael need to be recast even just for now and if he comes back he can just jump back in , we need to see what happens with him and the kids if Willow and him go on with a divorce, please do not have him move to another state or be killed off . Listen to your fans you create the show, but we as fans carry it on without your fans . There would be no general. HOSPITAL

    Wow I can’t believe he’s leaving to NOO!! I’ve been watching him since he came on the show as Michael CORINTHOS. Please don’t kill off his character if needed please re-cast him. I’ve been watching GH since I was 14yrs old I would hate to GH loose alot of fans. I hope you guys finish the storyline of CHEATING WILLOW & DISCUSTING DREW. They need to get exposed for the bold chesting they doing under MICHAEL and the Q” family nose. I’mWishing him good luck.
