Great news for everyone who has fallen in love with the origins of our favorite frontier town. Hallmark announced today that the breakout prequel series, Hope Valley: 1874, has officially been renewed for a second season. The eight-episode season will return exclusively to Hallmark+ in 2027.

This news shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to those following the charts. The debut of Hope Valley: 1874 was actually the most successful series launch on Hallmark+ to date. Viewers showed up in massive numbers every single week, proving that the magic of the When Calls the Heart universe is stronger than ever.

The Season One Finale is Almost Here

If you aren’t caught up yet, now is the time to head over to Hallmark+ to binge the first few chapters. The season one finale is set to premiere this Thursday, May 7. All previous episodes are currently available to stream, so you can see exactly why this show has become such a massive hit before the big cliffhanger.

Michelle Vicary, the Head of Programming at Hallmark Media, credited the success to the incredible team behind the scenes. She noted that the “dream cast” and the stories crafted by showrunner Alfonso Moreno have really resonated with both fans and critics. It is clearly a story they are excited to keep telling.

What Makes This Prequel So Special?

The series takes us back to the very beginning of the settlement. It follows the life of Rebecca Clarke (Bethany Joy Lenz), a widow who moves her young daughter to the Western Canadian frontier for a fresh start.

The show is packed with the kind of heart and drama we expect from this franchise. From Rebecca’s growing bond with local rancher Tom Moore (Benjamin Ayres) to the tension between gold prospectors and the local community, there is never a dull moment. The cast also features fan favorites like Jill Hennessy, Roan Curtis, and Lachlan Quarmby.

A Strong Foundation for the Future

Based on the beloved novel by Janette Oke, the series is produced by All Canadian Entertainment. The executive production team includes familiar names like Brad Krevoy, Brian Bird, and Michael Landon Jr., who have been instrumental in making this world feel so authentic and welcoming.

While we have to wait until 2027 for the next chapter, the foundation is clearly set for many more stories of courage and resilience in the early days of Hope Valley.
