Congratulations to Jason Thompson, who is celebrating 15 years in daytime!
The actor made his soap debut on December 7, 2005, when he stepped into the role of Dr. Patrick Drake in General Hospital. Patrick’s charming, kind, and at times cocky attitude quickly won over fans. The character’s pairing with Kimberly McCullough’s Robin Scorpio proved to be a popular one as “Scrubs” became a beloved couple. Thompson would give ten years of great work, earning two Daytime Emmy nominations for Supporting Actor and three for Lead Actor, before saying goodbye to Port Charles and heading to Genoa City in 2016.
Thompson took over the role of fan-favorite character Billy Abbott on The Young and the Restless where he has truly shined over the last few years. His on-screen chemistry with Amelia Heinle and Gina Tognoni has been stand-out parts but it’s Thompson’s ability to portray Billy’s complexity that we love. From his childlike behavior to his darker, more haunted parts, Thompson was the perfect choice to play Billy! And the Daytime Emmys seem to agree as he won his first Daytime Emmy in 2020 for Outstanding Lead Actor.
Congratulations on 15 years!
