There are a couple of behind-the-scenes changes happening over at The Young and the Restless, and one is the return of Jill Farren Phelps.

If her name rings a bell, it’s because she’s a seasoned soap vet. Since 1984, Phelps has held key roles on several daytime dramas, including Santa Barbara, Guiding Light, Another World, One Life to Live, and General Hospital.

Soap Opera Network recently confirmed that Phelps is back to Y&R. But she’s not the only change behind the curtain. Elizabeth Hendrickson, who fans know as Chloe, has also stepped into a brand-new role — director.

Hendrickson broke the news on Instagram, where she shared a heartfelt thank-you post listing the people who helped her along the way. Among those, she gave a special shoutout to Jill Farren Phelps.

For longtime fans, some may know that Phelps previously served as executive producer of The Young and the Restless from 2012 to 2016. But her journey in daytime TV started way back in 1974 as a production assistant on CBS’s Guiding Light. Over the years, she’s also taken on many roles, including associate producer, consulting producer, and supervising producer.

And if you’re wondering about awards, she’s not short on those either. Phelps has earned a total of 11 Daytime Emmy wins throughout her career — five for General Hospital and three for The Young and the Restless.
