Big casting news is shaking up Port Charles! General Hospital fans were stunned when they saw a mysterious man aboard a plane and keeping an eye on Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) at the Nurses Ball festivities. Now comes word that Rory Gibson has officially stepped into the role of Michael Corinthos, taking over the role from Chad Duell, who left the show in 2024. Gibson makes his debut on General Hospital on Friday, May 23.
Who is Rory Gibson
Born in November 1995 in Long Beach, California, Rory Gibson is an American actor who has steadily built a name for himself in daytime television and films.
He gained widespread recognition in 2021 when he was cast as Noah Newman on CBS’s long-running soap opera The Young and the Restless, taking over the role from Robert Adamson.
In a twist of soap opera coincidence, Robert Adamson—the very actor Gibson replaced on Y&R—has also portrayed Michael Corinthos on General Hospital multiple times, when he stepped in as a temporary fill-in for series regular Chad Duell.
It was in 2024 that Chad Duell made the decision to step away from the show. In a post on his Instagram account, he announced, “After many incredible years with General Hospital, I’ve decided to step away from the show. This wasn’t an easy decision for me, but it feels like the right time in my life.”
