We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! We had an abbreviated soap week due to the Holidays. But we still enjoyed some great soap this past week. Due to the abbreviation, we don’t have an honorable mention. We will resume with it next week. We do have a much deserving Performer of the Week. But let’s take a look back at the week in soaps first.

This past week in Genoa City, Nick’s new house was revealed, Phick moved in together, the Rosales and Murder Club drama continued, Neil moved from Genoa City to be closer to Lily (is Neil really gone?) and there was a lot of Victor talk so we should see him soon. More than anything else we were happy to finally see Devon’s grief being played on screen. It’s been months since Hillary died and after the initial aftermath, Devon has faded into the background. We are hoping Bryton James/Devon is finally getting the post-Hillary arc he and we deserve. Our Thanksgiving hearts were warmed when Jack asked Ashley to come home for the holiday (and set a place here) and several GC residents came to help Sharon feed the homeless.

The Bold and the Beautiful celebrated Thanksgiving with the traditional roundtable of saying something nice to the person on your right.  Wyatt to Sally, Pam to Quinn (that one cracked me up) Katie to Will, Steffy to Xander, Xander to Zoe, etc were all nice and touching. But the drama was in the subtleties. The look in Quinn’s dark eyes when Eric was saying what he was thankful for to and about Donna and then the daggers that shot from them when Eric grabbed Donna’s hand…..oh boy. And that strained smile plastered on Steffy’s face as Hope went on and on about their daughters being close. Those two brunettes weren’t fooling none of us. They are gonna blow soon.

Port Charles did something a little different. Jordan and Curtis had non-traditional bachelor and bachelorette parties.  There were no strippers, no alcohol no getting wild and crazy. Instead, their family and friends went to the Escape Room route. The Escape Room is an interactive room where people are locked in and have to work together to figure out the clues to “escape”. It was a manikin  who’s who of the most notorious villains of Port Charles (Faison, Jasper Jacks, Helena, Franco, Stavros, etc.) It was a Port Charles history lesson with a nice twist. Another bright spot was the resurrection of Nina vs Ava. Why was this ever shelved???  General Hospital concluded the week with a classic episode featuring Lila, Edward, Alan, Tony, Emily, etc. So nice to see them again!

Salem said goodbye to Christopher Sean and Paul this week.  We are hoping for a recast and to see Paul again. But we will miss Christopher immensely.  We fell in love with him and Paul hard and fast. Sadly, we will also be saying goodbye to Valerie Grant as her lifelong dream was fulfilled when she received a job offer for a Chief of Staff position in DC. Vanessa Williams was very underutilized. But whenever she was on screen she lit it up. She also will be missed.

Claire is emerging as quite the little Sami 2.0 and Olivia Keegan has found her sweet spot in the role. Jennifer read Chad for filth and it was so great to see Missy serving it up. In couple news; Elani is heating up to the delight of their fans, Ciara and Tripp broke-up,  Cin is a coming and Sonny came home just in time for a holiday Wilson reunion.

Our Performer of the Week is Camila Banus!!

We can’t wait to see Kate Mansi back as Abby. But we are so thankful the writers had the forethought to give us this showdown of Gabi and Abby with “Mamila” (Marci Miller and Camila Banus). Camila and Marci have been exceptional in this long overdue Gabi vs Abby rivalry. The writers nailed the showdown dialogue i.e. Gabi telling Abby the “Gaby” wig was bad for her complexion and for Abby to hold the applause after Gabi “confessed all her sins” was epic.

Camila, Days and Gabi fans were all glued to their TV sets (with many Amens!) as Gabi unloaded on Abby so much so that #TeamGabi trended! Great job soap fans!

Camila has been taking us seasoned soap watchers back to the days of vintage soap vixens. The talking to herself, the arch of the eyebrow, the triumphant looks, and the mischievous smirks have all been top notch throwback. And the playing of Chad like a fiddle, blackmailing Kate and taunting  Abby is what soap vixens are all about. Camila slayed this entire storyline.  She has continuously given leading lady performances. Awesome work Camila!!

As a side note, Marci Miller gave her final performances this week as Abigail DiMera. We just want to say thank you for filling Kate’s big shoes, onward and upward Marci!
