Richard Simmons, the iconic fitness guru, died at the age of 76.

Authorities were alerted by his housekeeper before 10 AM on Saturday, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Foul play is currently not suspected, and law enforcement is treating his death as natural.

Richard Simmons was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1948 and later earned a Bachelor’s degree in art from Florida State University before relocating to Los Angeles in the 1970s.

Initially working as a waiter in Beverly Hills, Simmons went on to establish a series of gyms catering to individuals who were not already in peak physical condition.

Beyond his fitness endeavors, Simmons delved into mainstream acting, frequently portraying himself on television, including a memorable stint on “General Hospital,” a role he maintained for around four years starting in 1979. He made a cameo appearance on the show in 2013.

Richard’s other well-known credits include “What Women Want,” “All My Children,” “The Larry Sanders Show” and more. Richard was also a prolific writer, publishing a series of healthy eating cookbooks.

We send our condolences to Richard Simmons family and friends during this difficult time.
