Shannen Doherty has died at the age of 53.
Doherty, who was born on April 12, 1971 in Memphis Tennessee was a highly accomplished American actress known for her outstanding performances in a variety of television shows and films. Throughout her career, she portrayed memorable characters such as Jenny Wilder in Little House on the Prairie, Maggie Malene in Girls Just Want to Have Fun, Kris Witherspoon in Our House, Heather Duke in Heathers, and Brenda Walsh in Beverly Hills, 90210, 90210, and BH90210.
She was also well known for playing Prue Halliwell in Charmed and Dobbs in Fortress.
In 2015, Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer that had spread to her lymph nodes. She underwent anti-estrogen treatment, a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. She announced remission in 2017, but in 2020 revealed the cancer had returned at stage four. In 2023, she announced the cancer had spread to her brain and became terminal. By 2024, she shared undergoing a new successful cancer treatment, but sadly passed away on July 13, 2024 from the disease as released in a statement from her pulicist.
