Ever since Jason Morgan was hauled off in a van by the WSB back in late March, the General Hospital fandom has been on edge waiting for his return. We knew a summer return was teased, but the man himself just put a date on it. On the latest episode of the Stone Cold and The Jackal podcast, Steve Burton finally confirmed that the gears are turning for his big comeback.
June Is the Magic Month
If you have been scouring the internet for a timeline, the search ends here. Steve shared that he officially heads back to the set to begin filming this June.
Since the show usually tapes a few weeks in advance, we can safely bet on seeing Jason back on our screens in Port Charles by July or early August.
Steve initially announced his temporary break to enjoy some quality time with his new wife, Michelle Lundstrom, and their family. He also made it clear that he isn’t sick or leaving for good, as rumors were circulating. Thankfully, he put all the wild rumors to rest.
“Yes, I am coming back to the show,” Steve confirmed on the podcast. “I start in June, so I’ll be back for sure.“
Like Father, Like Son?
Of course, it wouldn’t be a chat about Jason Morgan without some mob talk. Fans have been dying to know if Jason’s son, Danny, might be following in those infamous leather-jacketed footsteps or at least, what Steve thinks about it. To that end, he admitted that from a character standpoint, “Obviously, Jason wouldn’t want Danny in the business.“
However, he pointed out that from a storytelling perspective, there is something pretty gripping about a young man trying to prove himself to his father. Whether Jason likes it or not, the “young buck” energy Danny is bringing to the canvas could lead to some seriously high-stakes family tension once the enforcer is back in town.
Are you ready to see Jason Morgan reclaim his territory in Port Charles? The countdown to summer just got a lot more interesting, and we absolutely can’t wait. Can you?
