The men are taking the crowns this week. After Harrison Cone, aka Deke Sharpe, on The Bold and the Beautiful, walked away with Look of the Week, it is now Van Hansis from General Hospital taking the spotlight.
Hansis, who plays Lucas Jones on the ABC soap opera, has been named Soap Opera News Performer of the Week for March 30 to April 3, and it is well deserved. Let’s talk about what went down.
A Storyline Full of Grief
Lucas has been struggling to come to terms with Marco’s death, and it has not been easy to watch.
They had plans. Big ones. In fact, they were ready to move out of Wyndemere and start a life together. Lucas was even planning a surprise for Marco. Meanwhile, without him knowing, Marco was fighting for his life.
Sadly, Marco was later pronounced dead.
That kind of loss does not just go away, and this week really leaned into that grief.
The Moment Everything Hit
Things took another turn when Lucas met up with Britt at the hospital. They were going over what happened at the pier after he left, and what he learned only made things worse.
Britt told him that Cullum took the vials and destroyed them, despite everything they went through to get them. That realization alone hit hard. To Lucas, it meant Marco’s death was all for nothing.
Then came an even bigger shock.
Lucas started putting the pieces together and realized that Cullum was the one who killed Marco. You could see it all hit him at once. You could hear it in his voice. The shock, the heartbreak, the anger. It was all right there on full display.
And then the blame followed.
Lucas pointed it straight at Sidwell, believing his dangerous world and connections ultimately led to Marco’s death.
A Performance That Stood Out
Van Hansis really delivered here.
Every emotion felt real. The grief, the anger, the disbelief, it all came through in a way that pulled you in. A way that had us all SAT. That moment where he was gasping for breath said everything without needing a single extra word.
It was raw. It was heavy. And it was done so well.
This felt like a masterclass performance and easily one of the strongest moments of the week.
