Susan Lucci has had an incredibly successful career, including her run as the iconic diva, Erica Kane, on All My Children. Even years after the show ended, Erica remains one of the most iconic soap characters of all time. General Hospital has referenced Erica more than once since AMC went off the air, and there’s no doubt fans still dream of a reboot or even seeing Erica Kane stroll into Port Charles one day.
Would Susan Lucci Join GH?
In a recent chat with TV Insider, Lucci was asked whether she would ever consider reprising the role on General Hospital. Her answer left the door open, at least a crack. “I don’t want to say never, but I want to see if this really pans out with Kelly and Mark. That would be ideal,” she said. “I’m very flattered if the fans want that and if General Hospital is writing that. It’s a very good show, so we’ll see down the road.”
During her long soap career, Lucci earned multiple Daytime Emmy nominations before finally taking home the trophy in 1999, a moment fans still remember fondly.
These days, she’s keeping busy promoting her second memoir, La Lucci. Plus, she’s also set to reunite creatively with her former All My Children co-star Kelly Ripa and Ripa’s husband, Mark Consuelos. As previously reported, the pair is developing two All My Children movies for Lifetime.
Since the end of AMC, Ripa has never fully given up on Pine Valley. She previously developed a primetime reboot project titled Pine Valley, and recent updates suggest fans shouldn’t give up hope on that idea just yet.
Susan Lucci’s Impressive Career
Lucci remains one of the most successful and recognizable actresses to come out of daytime television.
Beyond soaps, she’s appeared in several other TV series, including multi-episode guest roles on Dallas, Hot in Cleveland, and Army Wives. She’s also worked in film and on stage over the years.
Most recently, Lucci revealed that she has joined the cast of the dark comedy film Outcome, which is written, directed by, and stars Jonah Hill.
Lucci will also be a guest on ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’ on Tuesday, February 3.
