Jason Thompson Has Some Good News for Billy Fans
Taking to Instagram, Thompson—who daytime fans also know and love from his legendary run as Dr. Patrick Drake on General Hospital—shared a short video clip with a huge tease.
Have you ever heard the saying short, sweet, and spicy?
Yep. That’s what Thompson gave fans.
“I got good news, and I got bad news,” he began.
He decided to give fans the good news first.
“For people that like Billy and you want exciting stories on The Young and the Restless, I’m telling you, it’s only getting better. So, you’re in for a helluva ride.”
As for the bad side of things? Thompson added, “The bad news is, if you are someone that doesn’t like Billy and you don’t want exciting stories to happen, well, you’re shit out of luck because it is happening anyway. Stay tuned.“
The tease immediately drew excitement from across the daytime community. Giddens, whose material will begin hitting airwaves in the near future, dropped handclap emojis in the comment section. Meanwhile, Thompson’s co-star Susan Walters (Diane Jenkins Abbott) weighed in, writing, “That’s awesome,” alongside her own handclap emojis.
A Start on GH
Thompson got his start in daytime soaps back in December 2005 as neurosurgeon Dr. Patrick Drake on General Hospital. In 2007, he became an original cast member of GH’s primetime spin-off General Hospital: Night Shift. He stepped into the role of Billy Abbott on CBS’s The Young and the Restless in 2016, earning multiple Daytime Emmy nominations and bringing home the trophy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2020.
