Per Deadline, Nicholas Alexander Chavez has boarded the cast of the highly anticipated sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer. Chavez joins Lola Tung, Austin Nichols, Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, Jonah Haur-King and Gabbriette who have rounded out the cast of the upcoming Sony Pictures film. They all join Freddie Prinze Jr. who is set to reprise his role. Also, original film’s star Jennifer Love Hewitt is in talks to return.
Jennifer Kaytin Robinson is at the helm of the next installment in the horror film franchise, showcasing her directorial prowess with a script crafted by Sam Lansky and Robinson. It is based on an original draft by Leah McKendrick. The project is in the capable hands of producer Neal Moritz. Fans can look forward to its theatrical release by Sony Pictures on July 18, 2025.

The original film follows four friends bound by a tragic accident who are stalked by a hook-wielding maniac in their seaside town. I Know What You Did Last Summer, based on the Lois Duncan novel, was a hit that led to the sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer in 1998. A direct-to-video third installment, I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006), is a stand-alone sequel with no original cast members.
Chavez can also be seen in Ryan Murphy’s limited series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story, which became Netflix’s #1 show in the U.S. for two weeks as well the drama series Grotesquerie, which premiered September 25 on FX.
