Hey soap peeps! This past week had a little something for everyone. We had a wedding, a funeral, singing and a Golden Anniversary. We all “rag” on our Final Four at times. So, it’s important to give praise when earned. Each soap shined in its own way. Tell us if you agree. First up The Young and The Restless.
As we suspected from the cliffhanger, The Women’s Murder Club added kidnapping to its repatriate. Three-fourths of them put a bag over Tessa’s head, drove her out to the middle of nowhere and put the fear of the soap gawds in her. We aren’t picking sides but we will say, Tessa if you want to play in the big leagues….toughen up. JT’s postmortem outfit proved to be the final straw and Nikki was back on the bottle. Mariah and Sharon were at odds over Tessa. Hey Mariah, don’t be so hard on Sharon. What’s a lil kidnapping to a blackmailer?
Reed is back and determined to find out what happened to his daddy. Hmm. Good luck with that. We loved seeing Reed, Mattie and Charlie together again. Devon and Abby are partnering up to open GC’s newest hot spot. Michael and Lauren financially cut Fen off. They fully support their son in his pursuit of his musical career. But they closed Fen’s account at The Bank of Fenmore. But Fen didn’t sweat it. He’s determined to make it, on his own, if necessary. Great scenes with Fen and Lauren and we got a Danny mention! Y&R couple foreshadowing; Villy? Vane? Fen/Ana? Stay tuned.
Bold did spend most of the week again on Taylor shooting Bill/”Taylor’s instability”. But Taylor back on canvas has provided some much-needed energy to the show. So we aren’t complaining. We’ve got Taylor/Steffy vs. Brooke/Hope with Liam smack dab in the middle scratching his head about what to do next. Bold has set this up very nicely.
Taylor was tempted to take a drink (she didn’t). Taylor told Steffy that if her presence was causing too much of a problem she could leave. But Steffy insisted that Taylor stay and live with her. Brooke almost spread the who shot Bill tale to her sisters but refrained. While Zoe was giving Xander the 4-1-1 that daddy, Dr. Reese, was a gigolo, Dr. Reese was giving Dr. Taylor some lip lock. We are intrigued.
In Port Charles, Drew “has” his memories (he took the flash drive). Sasha fled Port Charles. She told faux momma, Nina, that drugging, assault and murder was too much for her. Word is we haven’t seen the last of Sasha though. Dr. O, in momma bear mode, traded her freedom for Britt-a’s. But when she found out that Valentin had miraculously found her “great niece” Sasha, she knew her days behind bars were numbered. Dr. O told Valentin to find a way to spring her or Nina would learn the truth about her faux daughter.
One of the highlights of last week was the bullying storyline, which has been one of the biggest and most pleasant surprises! It’s an umbrella-ish story with a good message. Lulu’s dialogue with Charlotte about how to be kind to people and to respect people even if they are “different” from you was poignant, timely and relevant. In couple’s news, Carson looks to be headed for troubled waters and Alexis appears to be back in Julian’s orbit full time.
Port Charles and soapland laid Kiki to rest. Carly and Ava had a cemetery catfight (Okay, Ferncliff!) Mourners with their sunflower pins (nice touch GH) all paid their respects. And this is where we find our Honorable Mention Performer of the Week. Sonya Eddy! Epiphany/Sonya made all our hearts a little fuller when she sang, Live On. Her performance was moving, stirring and heartfelt. Thank you Sonya!
Days started off their week with a “Surprise b*tch” and a Gab-Y/Abby vs Gabi showdown 2.0. Kate and Camilla….my goodness. How good were they?! It’s only going to get better as this story is headed toward its climax. The Horton Tree came out the attic and Lucas was the first to adorn it before he left town. (We think he’s really gone this time lol) Rafe agreed to be join team Tope in their quests against Stefan and Ben.
Stayla stans were happy to hear Steve was finally free. But heartbroken that Steve wasn’t coming back to Salem and Kayla. Our hearts go out to the Stayla stans. Rex moved Mimi and Emily to Chicago so he could be closer to his daughter. Sarah was offered a job in Salem. Elani planned their first date. Stefan and Chad’s battle lines were redrawn. Maggie gave Eric her blessing to raise Holly. But Nicole wrote a letter asking Chloe to raise Holly in the event of her death. Buckle up for Broe vs Eric/Sarah.
Salem had another epic wedding and the nuptials gave us our Performer of the Week, Greg Rikaart! (And his suit and his hair). The wedding was hilarious. Everyone had us ROTFL. Add in Shelia (Yo Adrienne!), Victor (Lesson number one-when you kill somebody make sure they are actually dead) and a slap by Adrienne, made this wedding must-see TV. We cannot say enough about what Greg has done since Leo’s resurrection. His performance was that of an Emmy award winner for best comedic performance. He’s having so much fun. He’s beaming! It’s contagious. He’s channeled his inner Gloria Baldwin/Judith Chapman (who will be on screen soon enough). Hurry up please. Take a big bow, Greg!
We couldn’t talk about last week without giving a special acknowledgment and thank you to the legendary Susan Seaforth Hayes for blessing us with 50 years as Julie Olson Williams. The celebratory stellar episode included epic flashbacks, Salem history lessons, cake, Bill Hayes singing The Most Beautiful Girl in the World against the backdrop of the entrance of the Horton Christmas Tree. Brilliant!
Side note; Doug/Julie and Bill/Susan are reel and real relationship goals!
Just in case you were crazy enough to think Julie can’t still werk it. At the beginning of the week, Julie gave Ciara an earful about dating Ben. Mid-week she teamed up with Abby to help bring Gabi down. And by week’s end sleuth Julie had made her way to Gabi’s room at the Kiriakis mansion and had Charlotte DiMera’s paternity results in her hand. We STAN Queen Julie!
Congratulations and Many Thanks Susan!

Performer of the Week: Days of Our Lives’ Greg Rikaart!
