Tajh Bellow may be MIA onscreen as TJ Ashford on General Hospital, but he is ready to hit the stage in an electric revival of a modern classic called Topdog/Underdog.
Topdog/Underdog is a play written by Suzan-Lori Parks that won the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for drama. It is a darkly comic fable of brotherly love and sibling rivalry. Lincoln and Booth are brothers haunted by their past – as well as their names. When Lincoln gets a gig impersonating his namesake, Booth takes over his brother’s old racket as a three-card monte dealer. This Pulitzer Prize-winning play is a tangle of secrets, lies, and competition, where the stakes get higher and higher.
Bellow will take the stage with Abraham Amkpa in the March 14/15 run, produced by Rebecca Jackson and directed by Niyi Coker. They will perform at Little Theatre in Athenaeum Nelson Mandela Bay, Eastern Cape, South Africa.
Bellow joined the cast of General Hospital as a recast of TJ Ashford on November 20, 2018. He was upped to contract status in 2022 but was bumped back to recurring as of February 2025. In 2021, Bellow earned a Daytime Emmy Award nomination in the category of Outstanding Younger Performer in a Drama Series for his work on GH. (Photo: ABC)
