General Hospital has found its new Serena Baldwin. According to TV Insider, Kelly Kruger, known for her roles as Eva on The Bold and the Beautiful and Mackenzie Browning on The Young and the Restless, is joining the ABC daytime drama.
“I’m so excited to be joining the show!” Kruger shared. “It’s a literal dream come true to finally get to work with Frank Valentini and Mark Teschner after all these years! Daytime has a very special place in my heart, and I have always wanted to work with the actors and writers on this show. I truly believe the level of talent and work they put out is the absolute best.”
Soap fans will certainly recognize Kruger from her previous stints in the afternoon lineup. She previously worked in a recurring capacity on The Bold and the Beautiful, but she got her official daytime start on The Young and the Restless, appearing on the canvas from 2002 to 2003, with additional return appearances from 2018 to 2019.
Outside of the daytime world, Kruger has built up an impressive resume across primetime television and film, including memorable guest spots on hit series like Criminal Minds and Entourage. On a personal note, Kruger is also known to fans as the ex of fellow soap star Darin Brooks (Wyatt Spencer, The Bold and the Beautiful).
A Legacy Character Reborn
It has been a very long time since Serena Baldwin has been seen in Port Charles. As long-time viewers will remember, Serena has a deeply unique place in General Hospital history.
She is the biological daughter of Scott Baldwin and the late Dominique Stanton, and was brought into the world with legacy icon Lucy Coe serving as her surrogate mother.
The beloved character was last portrayed on screen by actress Carly Schroeder, who made a brief return for a special tribute episode.
Fans won’t have to wait too much longer to see how Serena fits back into the current landscape of Port Charles. Kruger officially begins filming her very first scenes on Monday, June 8, and her first on-screen appearance is scheduled to air sometime this July.
