Back in March, Last Week Tonight host John Oliver made an unexpected plea: he wanted a role on a soap opera.
After learning that sports personality Stephen A. Smith had a recurring role on General Hospital, Oliver jokingly challenged any daytime soap to cast him as an over-the-top character with a ridiculous name.
Well, it worked.
During Sunday’s episode of Last Week Tonight, Oliver revealed that he has officially landed roles on both General Hospital and Days of Our Lives.

Oliver also confirmed that he has already filmed scenes for Days of Our Lives.
“I am happy to say I have only taped a week of episodes on Days of Our Lives, which is a huge honor,” he shared.
While discussing the opportunity, Oliver pointed out that the long-running NBC/Peacock soap has welcomed several legendary guest stars over the years, including Dick Van Dyke and Betty White.
